Composite - Frame Technique

... To Get Started ...

1. First you need to find 2 images you would like to use for the composite effect. One for the bottom and one for the top.

2. Here is one I chose for the top image. Masked Lady

3. You also need to copy the url of that image to use later and you also need the size of it. The size of the Lady is 324x400. Take that Image to the Image Center and the url for it will be shown at the top. Take your cursor there and press cmd+a and then cmd+c to copy it.

4. Next you need to find an image you would like your other image to be put on.

5. I chose this image. Sunset

... Now To Frame The Image ...

1. Click on the image you want to use as the background or bottom image.(The Sunset)

2. Click on the fkey for the Image Center, then click on Image Magick to go to one of the centers.
Note: All of the Image Magick's will automatically take the url of the mask there to manipulate from the Image Center only.

3. Now click on resize and make the Sunset pic the same size as the Lady pic. 324x400! This is so the frame will stay equal all the way around.

4. Next we will add a frame to that bottom image. It does not matter how many layers or if you use raise or sunken to it. The more, the better it will look or depending on what effect you want to achieve.

5. I chose to make 3 frames around this picture.

6. Go to Decorate...
Decorate - 20x20+8+8 gray Frame
Decorate - 30x30 darkolivegreen Border
Decorate - 15x15+7+7 darkslategray Frame

7. Now this image will be larger, so resize it back to 324x400. It should now look like this. Example 1

... Now To Composite The Image ...

1. Click on Compostie button.

2. Paste in the url of your image you want to place over it. (erase http:// first) Then press cmd+v to paste the url of your image.

3. Keep Gravity Center and the Location the same.

4. Make Compose setting at Difference.
Note... you neeed to try all the composite features since depending on what images you use, you will get different effects.

5. Then scroll up and click on composite.

6. It will now put the one image over the framed image.

7. This is what you made using...
Difference - Exotic Nights 1
or.. Multiply - Exotic Nights 2
or.. Bumpmap - Exotic Nights 3
or.. Modulate - Exotic Nights 4
or.. Copyred - Exotic Nights 5

8. Next I resized the final image a bit smaller to 300x350!

9. Now you can Annotate your name on the image or manipulate the image even more.

10. Next click on Output.

11. Click on Format then JPG, Single file button and then Output.

12. Scroll down to Quality and make that 30 instead of 75 to reduce kb size.

13. Then click on your image shown to transload to your files.

14. With this technique it seems you can never guess how the frame will actually look when it is composited. It is more of a surprise each time...LOL
